  1. How to get to Hitachi Station from Narita Airport

    We offer two routes and suppose that the first one is more convenient.
    1. Airport Bus from Narita Airport
    Airport bus "Rose Liner" departs at Terminal1 Gate #8 and Terminal2 Gate #10 take you to Hitachi, "HITACHI STATION THE HOTEL NIKKO HITACHI" in about 200 minutes. Nine bus services a day are available.

    2. Railway from Ueno Station
    You can arrive at Hitachi Station by JR Joban line from Ueno Station. You must change train at least once in the Tokyo area.
    + From Narita Airport to JR Ueno Station
    There are several lines to reach JR Ueno Station. We recommend you to take "Skyliner" of Keisei Line which brings you to Keisei Ueno Station in about 60 minutes.

    + From JR Ueno Station to Hitachi Campus
    Limited Express "Super Hitachi" or "Fresh Hitachi" through Joban line brings you to Hitachi Station in about 90 minutes. The train service is every half hour during the day time. There are reserved seats, non reserved seats and superior-class "Green Car". Express ticket with or without seat reservation is necessary.
    One way fare : 4,300 / 4,810 / 6,300 Yen
    (Standard ¥2,520 + Express ticket ¥1,780 [non reserved seat] / ¥2,290 [reserved seat] / ¥3,780 [superior-class Green Cars])

  2. How to get to Hitachi campus of Ibaraki University from Hitachi Station

    You may reach Hitachi Campus in about 10 minutes by city bus or taxi.
    1. Taxi
    There is a taxi terminal and please tell a driver "Ibaraki-Daigaku". Or print out the following (which means "Please take me to Hitachi campus of Ibaraki University") and show it to a driver.

    Fare : approximately ¥1000

    2. City Bus
    Take the Hitachi-Dentetsu bus #3 for Heiwadai or #4 for Kosakidai/Heiwadai-Reien via Chuo-sen from Central Gate of JR Hitachi Station, and get off at "Ibadai-Mae Ibadai-Mae in Japanese Kanji" the bus stop in front of Ibaraki University.
    One way fare : ¥240

    Note : Please make sure you have plenty of small change when you use the bus. Exchange machine (for ¥1,000, 500, 100) is available on the fare box next to the driver (but sometimes it runs out of change).
    If you frequently take the bus, it may be convenient to buy a prepaid bus card. The card will give some discounts; ¥500 card for ¥500 (no discount), ¥1100 card for ¥1000, ¥3400 card for ¥3000 and etc.
    If you want a card, please tell the driver "sen en(¥1000)/go-hyaku en(¥500) card wo kudasai".

    Board the bus from the rear door and take a numbered ticket from a small machine, or insert a prepaid bus card into the slot.
    When getting off the bus, put both the ticket and the fare into the fare box located beside the bus driver.
    For the card user, insert the card into the slot on the fare box.
    When you forget to insert the prepaid card at the rear door (or first use), please show your ticket to the driver. He/she would operate the fare box and then you can pay by your card.
